Onion Seed Isolation Map Rules
The Onion Seed Isolation map, as well as Broccoli and Carrot Seed Isolation maps, will be available to post the appropriate seed locations in Imperial County. Participation is voluntary. IVVGA has no legal authority over posted locations.
The purpose of these maps is for all seed companies and growers to review the locations for distance restrictions on pollination and varieties, and then communicate with each other as necessary. ONLY SEED COMPANIES will provide pin locations. ALL pinning on the office map and the on-line map will be done by IVVGA staff.
1. Posting for 2021 harvest will the week of July 27-July 31, 2021. The location form will be accepted from seed companies this week and not before. Please note the block location, for example the N, S, W, W corner along with the crossroads. The IID gate number is also required. Grower needs to provide locations to the seed companies prior to pinning dates. Please deliver the completed form by mail, email or in person at the office. No locations will be accepted by telephone. If you choose to deliver the form in person, please call to be sure the office is open for dates other than noted above.
2. If you would like to pin a location after the above noted pinning week, the pin location must be in accordance with those requirements. If your field is closer than 3 miles for pin already posted, you are responsible to contact that Seed Rep to resolve any questions or isolation before the IVVGA will allow the pin. We ask that all honor and respect the pin locations already posted.
3. Due to COVID-19 and the social distancing restriction, we will not meet to resolve any identified conflicts. In the past, we had the majority of conflicts resolved without the need to meet so we do not see this an impediment. We expect all conflicts to be resolved by September 16, 2021.
4. As advised last year, effective July 1, 2019 a reasonable fee will be charged for pinning in excess of the first two hours per company of time spent. Included in the two hours is the pinning notices, the pinning week time and the meeting on Monday, August 12, 2019. Time after that will be billed to your company on the following basis.
IVVGA members $60.00 per hour billed in 15-minute increments
Non-IVVGA members $100 per hour billed in 15-minute increments.
We are pleased to report that no one was billed for these fees.
The on-line map for 2021 season will be available August 5, 2021. This is later that in prior years, but we understand that the planning for the 2020-2021 crop are delayed this year.
